On Sunday, October 20, 2019 Youth and Students for Peace (YSP), Universal Peace Federation (UPF), Unity Under One Umbrella (U of T Student Association), and Civilization Wisdom Charity Upsurge (CWCU) Not-For-Profit Inc., hosted 80 students and guests at the University of Toronto to welcome three guest speakers who addressed how the holy scriptures of different religions view love and happiness.
Dr. Abdulcabbar Boran, leader of Zivilisation Weisheit Wohltätigkeit Aufschwung (ZWWA) or Civilization Wisdom Charity Upsurge, with a translation from Eyub Yegen, a PhD candidate at the University of Toronto and president of the student organization Unity Under One Umbrella, spoke about Abrahamic religions and compared various holy scriptures.
John Koester, Representative of YSP Toronto, next shared about YSP’s peace perspective and the culture of Hyojeong, or heart of filial piety. President of UPF Canada and the National Leader of Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) Canada Rev. Franco Famularo concluded the seminar with an analysis of comparative religion. A discussion followed which was met with optimism and a mutual agreement that all religions are essentially alike in their basic beliefs and that our similarities are what makes us stronger together.
A cultural activity followed during which a group of volunteers performed Japanese peace songs and dances before a Mediterranean meal was served. Click HERE to view the event’s photos.
