On February 11, 2023, Shine City Project did some planting at Wetlands Park! Our nine Shine City Project volunteers helped to plant the remaining willows from January's service project at Wetlands Park. Before putting in the saplings, we had to ensure that there was a sufficient amount of dirt that was placed back into the holes as they had already been pre-dug for us. Without doing so, the holes would be too deep for the willows. A lot of our efforts were ensuring that the soil amount was right and that the soil didn't contain large clumps of dirt. Often, we needed to break up dirt clods so that they wouldn't get in the way for the willows' growth. Overall, it was a nice time to simply be outdoors and to be in touch with nature!
